The 'Azoychka' tomato, a Russian heirloom, is an indeterminate variety with regular leaf plants that mature very early. With fruit ranging from ten to sixteen ounces, these oblate-shaped tomatoes are distinctively yellow with bright yellow interiors. Unlike typical yellow-fruited varieties, 'Azoychka' surprises with a pleasant tart taste, more akin to a good red tomato. Originating from Russia, co-founder of the Seed Savers Exchange, Kent Whealy, introduced this variety in 1995. Incredibly productive, each plant yields 40-50 smooth, slightly flattened oblate tomatoes. The lusciously sweet citrusy flavor, combined with a well-balanced acidity, makes 'Azoychka' a favorite for salads, sandwiches, sauces, and canning. Adaptable to various climates, it matures in 70-80 days, offering robust, complex flavors and establishing itself as a rare and sought-after tomato variety.
